Repost: The Day the World Ran for Education

Once again, Kuya (big brother in tagalog) Daniel Razon proved that any good deed will not yield bad results.

Kahit Isang Araw Lang Unity Run (Just One Day Unity Run) which was held on January 22, 2012 aims to provide computer laboratories to selected public schools in the Philippines. The run was organized in seven different points in the Philippines: 2 in Luzon, 3 in Visayas, and 2 in Mindanao. Not only that, despite the time zone differences, Unity Run was also held in different parts of the world. There are runners in Europe, Asia, South America, and North America. This is a sign that everyone all over the world are ready to support the noble cause for our poor yet deserving students.

With God’s help, the event was successful. Not only in the number of registrations gathered but also it has earned enough for the DepEd’s (Department of Education) Adopt-a-School project. Runners also include our police force and different sectors of the Philippine Army, which only shows that they value education. Students from different levels and schools (both public and private) also participated.

Just for one day, the whole world ran for the benefit of Filipino students. Just for one day, Daniel Razon’s advocacy has given everyone all over the world a chance to support the education sector. Just for one day, everybody from different government and private sectors unite for the Filipino students. Just for one day, the whole world ran for education!

All of this, with God’s help, Just for one day!

Dream as it may to have somebody who understands the weakest points you seem to conceal from everybody.

I dreamt and due to Heaven’s goodness my wish was heard and granted.

There’s beauty in some imperfections. I could not – of course – explain it so well.

2011 is one of the good years I witnessed.

It brings tears thinking about all the things that happened this year. Most of my handkerchiefs witness the overflowing gratitude I have inside.

Things that are unexpected makes me appreciate the gifts nicely wrapped, shipped on a cargo for some time and delivered on our doorstep by One whom I adored most. It’s been a long wait to be granted with my major wishes and surprisingly they come into life this year.

Pardon me if this post is going into circles but I am lost for words in sharing this good feeling.

Realize and be surprised

Something inside tells me, “It’s not just you who’s sad. Your family longs to feel your warmth. They just pretend to be against of what you do because you completely made yourself ~~busy~~ unavailable. How was that? Where’s the love? They are not the ones who will adjust for you. You must. Now is the time to move!” There goes the “Boom!!!” in my heart that I can’t ignore. With God’s help I realized how lacking I am being a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, a friend and most especially being a sibling.”

The long wait is over

For 7 years, my ex-boyfriend and I travelled on the “single but not available road.” Honestly I admit that in most of my prayers I ask Him to guide us and be found pleasing in His sight all the years of our lives. I 100% attest to what our preachers say, “Loving is not an easy task. It entails tears and pain.” With God’s mercy, my ex-boyfriend is the man who caused the change of my surname, my husband – Theo. Thanks be to God for our preachers, Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon, who advised us to wait for the right time and live in control through the topics they deliver every Church gathering.

A wish to be thankful so much more

It’s one of my wishes to offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving from the bottom of my heart. Not because I think I need to but to always feel that I want and need to. Again with God’s help a good Prompter tells me, “Run to Him and find your hiding place. Cry out a river to the One who completely understand you. Give thanks.”

All the rest remains to be a wonderful thing I know but could not express.
There are so many things I am thankful for. My sincerest apologies to those I caused sadness/ pain.

May we all have a blessed year ahead!

First Day

Prepare checklist of what to bring.

Backpackers checklist
1. Alcohol
2. Wet wipes
3. Dry napkins
4. Sanitary napkins (girl thing!)
5. Basic first aid kit
6. Mosquito Repellant

8. Waterproof bag (for stuffs you need to leave by the beach shore)
9. Lightweight towel (in case you’re like me who don’t use towels in the hotel)
10. Hat, shades
11. Biscuits and refillable water bottles or tumblers
12. Plastics for wet clothes
13. Lightweight clothes
14. Flash light

“Do remember that liquids should not be more than 100ml, else you have to leave them at the airport.”

Extra tips:
1. Buy a gallon or half a gallon distilled water for your stay to avoid pricey bottled drinking water.
2. Buy souvenirs @Snake Zootic/ Tagbilaran local market to save up a bit.
3. Loboc river dine in gives you a fun experience. If your palate is somehow high in standards, I advice that you search for other restos nearby.

Other info.:
Security: Le Elephant Bleu near the police station. But of course, do not ignore basic security precautions you observe back in the city.
Bank: ATM Machines nearby
Bohol locals: Very warm and hospitable
Food: Recommends Bohol Tropic (viand ranges from 80 to 250 pesos, tastes really good) and Roasted Chicken (170 Php) and Elephant Bleu ranges from 100 to 150 Php)
Entrance Fees: Ranges from 30-50 Php
Tourist Van: Ranges from 4,000 to 4,500 (8hrs/day, inclusive of gas fee). I do recommend Mang Tino, if you want to know his contact number, just PM me.
Local Transport (Tricycle): 8 to 10 Php
No heavy traffic jam
Bohol activities are reasonably priced.
But just the same a finance consultant @Reader’s Digest advice: “Don’t spend more than what you earn.”
